FABRIC LIBRARY → 23 MATCHES

If you are finding it difficult to choose a fabric you can now request a sample swatch (or a couple if you like) and I'll post them to you.

These are smallish offcuts (about 5cm x 5cm) produced when I sew the bags and do make it much easier to confirm a fabrics colour and texture.

At the moment your swatches are generally posted the same day requested ☺

  • Cherry Blossom

    Cherry Blossom

Digitally printed on heavyweight upholstery canvas by Rouse Phillips, Sydney

  • Hand Gilded Canvas - Gold

    Hand Gilded Canvas • Gold

Handprinted on heavy linen canvas by Spacecraft

    This fabric is the business.

One of the most interesting (and stunning) materials I've worked with this textured, organic is basically a rich, uneven gilded finish on a heavy linen canvas basecloth.

This gives an amazing patina to the fabric, with each area of the fabric having a distinct personality that shows this handprinted technique.

Which the images do go someway to showing how beautiful the finish is, it is much more interesting in person (without being too gaudy or showy).

As each panel is unique the area shown in the images is the area you will get on your bag.

NB • Due to the cost of this fabric you'll notice these bags are also about 10% more expensive.

  • Le Corbusier - Indigo

    Le Corbusier • Indigo

Handprinted on the the reverse of a heavy denim by Spacecraft

This fabric is a photographic screenprint of the exterior of the iconic Cité Madieuse apartments in Marseille designed by Le Corbusier (a pioneer of modern architecture) and built between 1947 and 1952.

As this fabric is printed on the reverse of a heavyweight indigo denim the texture of this basecloth gives the print a subtle abstraction.

This print is a large repeat with understated variation the area shown in the images will be the one you receive on your bag.

  • Line Drawing - Moss

    Line Drawing • Moss

Handprinted on a linen canvas by Spacecraft

This fabric was created by designer Stewart Russell by painstakingly drawing a series of horizontal lines on a canvas as consistently as possible.

The effect is similar to contour lines on a topographical map, with small movements in one line affecting the subsequent lines.

As this is quite an organic print with a large repeat each bag will have a unique section of the fabric.

  • Basket Case - Indigo

    Basket Case • Indigo

Handprinted on heavyweight upholstery cotton canvas by Utopia Goods in Sydney, Australia

This design has been inspired by both the colours of the ocean and African textiles.

It is a bold geometric design with very rich indigo bands edged and detailed with gold highlights.

Each of the the bands is approximately 3cm wide and creates a very visually strong motif.

    Mountain Fern • Slate

Handprinted on heavyweight upholstery cotton canvas by Utopia Goods in Sydney, Australia

This print is a subdued large scale design of offwhite and subtle mint fern fronds on a textured slate grey background.

It has a slight vintage feel to the design and sits beautifully against the black base fabric of the bags.

  • Fern - Indigo

    Fern • Indigo

Handprinted on heavyweight upholstery cotton canvas by Utopia Goods in Sydney, Australia

This design is a delicate, large scale tonal design of ferns over an ink blue background.

It was inspired by the nineteeth century craft movement and the muted palette and texture of the background suggest a woodcut.

As this fabric has a large repeat each panel used will be quite unique and as shown in the product images.

  • Tuppura - Indigo

    Tuppura • Indigo

A brand new screenprinted fabric from Marrimekko on a durable cotton canvas

It is a vibrant print with bold colours and organic abstract floral elements.

As it has a very large repeat each bag will be quite unique and once gone won't be replicated.

This also means that the print shown in the product images will be the area used on your bag.

If you'd like to see more options just let me know and I'll add them to the website.

  • Vuorilaakso - Grey

    Vuorilaakso • Grey

This is one of the prints from the 2016 range of Marimekko textiles.

It features large-scale, stylised mountain ranges (abstracted by the scale of the bags) and was designed by Sanna Annukka.

The fabric has been printed by Marimekko in Helsinki on a heavyweight cotton.

As this is a large print each bag will have a unique pattern, the area shown in the product images is the area your bag will be sewn with.

  • Unikko - Grey

    Unikko • Grey

This is the latest colourway of the iconic Pieni Unikko design in navy and orange.

Originally designed in 1964 by Maija Isola for Marimekko the slightly darker colours used make it suitable for use in bags (as anything too light tends to quickly show dirt and wear).

The boldness of the print also works particularly well with the brighter shoulder straps.

As this is a large print each bag will have a unique configuration of flowers.

  • Kangaroo Leather - Black

    Kangaroo Leather • Black

Kangaroo leather is a very sustainable and extremely hard-wearing material that improves in appearance as it ages.

It has been sourced it from a leading tannery in Queensland who produces a range of leathers to very rigorous environmental standards.

Due to the nature of the product each panel is unique with it's own texture and characteristics.

  • Black Armadillo

    Black Armadillo

Layered panels of Cordura (the backpack material used for the exterior of the bag)

This bag has a panel of over-stitched Cordura panels instead of a printed fabric to create a interestingly textured, understated and super durable surface.

Another benefit of this appearance is a wide variety of coloured shoulder straps can be used with this bag.

In particular the new digitally printed straps are a great way to accent this bag.

Handprinted on a eco linen canvas by Ink & Spindle

After many requests I've had a small quantity reprinted in the original ink blue on a natural oatmeal coloured canvas.

As this is quite an organic print with a large repeat each bag will have a unique section of the fabric.

  • Cyclist Tweed - Reflective

    Cyclist Tweed • Reflective

This very unique fabric was developed by Dashing Tweeds in the UK.

It is a Lumatwill tweed which means it is a traditional style tweed with a twist as woven with a 3M reflective yarn and teflon coated.

These yarns are the lighter horizontal stitches in the fabric which are highly reflective, making your bag (and yourself) very visible at night - perfect for cycling.
