REPAIR & CARE

Whilst your bag is designed and sewn to be as hardwearing as possible like any fabric based product after daily use and lots of adventure it may need a little repair & care.

This process is more time than material intensive with the majority of the costs reflecting the time it takes to complete each repair.

As a small way to give back to the community (and support an organisation doing fantastic work) I donate 100% of proceeds from repairs to the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre.

You can read more about the work of the ASRC here →

PRINTED FABRIC PANEL REPLACEMENT

This is a great option if the printed fabric panel on your bag has seen better days yet the rest of the bag still has lots of life in it!

It is applicable to both bags with a front zipper pocket (as shown) and bags with an open front pocket (like the A4 Shoulder Bag).

As this is the most time consuming repair, requiring the whole bag to be unstitched, the panel replaced and then sewn back together, this is also the most expensive option.

NB • I also replace the main zipper when replacing the fabric panel (so no need to order this separately)

PRINTED FABRIC PANEL REPLACEMENT + matttZIP

This option allows you to replace the fabric panel on your bag (as above) while also reusing some of the original fabric to make a matttZIP.

The rest of the materials used are sourced from end of rolls etc which are functionally perfect though just a bit too small for larger bags.

NB • The smallest area of fabric required is 15cm wide by 10cm

MAIN ZIPPER REPAIR

After many years of use the bags main zipper (at the top of the bag near where the strap joins the bag) can get worn and damaged.

In about 95% of cases this damage means that zipper slider (the bit that moves) is just worn out and simply needs to be replaced.

This can be done very quickly (even while you wait if you're able to drop your bag into the mattt SHOP) and is by far the most common repair I perform on the bags.

MAIN ZIPPER REPLACEMENT

After many years of use the bags main zipper (at the top of the bag near where the strap joins the bag) can get worn and damaged.

In about 5% of cases this damage means that the zipper teeth come away from the zipper fabric sewn into the bag and will need to be completely replaced.

Fortunately I've designed the bags to make replacing the zipper as easy as possible so although a bit of careful unstitching is required it is reasonably straightforward.

NB • If your original zipper is a lightweight zipper used in my earlier bags it will be replaced with a slightly heavier, more robust zipper.
